Course Description


This introductory course examines the role and function of Information Technology (IT) and the Internet in contemporary business environments. Topics include, but not limited to, information management, systems analysis and design, networking and telecommunications, database systems, and e-commerce applications. Emphasis is on the use of IT and the Internet to solve business problems in general. There is no pre-requisite for this course.


Learning Objectives


  1. To develop basic literacy in Information Technology, such as hardware, software, and business applications.
  2. To understand and discuss the role of information systems and technology in business.
  3. To gain a working understanding of the systems development process.
  4. To apply new-acquired technical knowledge and analytical skills to a systems development project of limited scope.
